How it works

Two people. One picture.

Every scene is drawn twice.

Our Same Page and Remember When books are made for coloring side by side. Open the book, and there is one scene on both pages: an Easy page on the left and a Detailed page on the right.

The Easy page and the Detailed page

On the left

Easy

Thick, bold lines and big open shapes. There’s less to color, so it’s quick to start.

On the right

Detailed

The same scene with finer lines, patterns and little things to find. There’s more to color, for people who like a challenge.

Coloring side by side

The book opens between two people. Each of you colors one page of the same scene, and you can talk while you work.

Who colors which page is up to you:

  • Someone who is new to coloring can take the Easy page. A steady hand can take the Detailed page.
  • A grown-up and a child can each take the page that suits them.
  • Take turns. Trade pages for the next scene.
  • Your colors don’t have to match. Two different pictures is part of the fun.

Coloring on your own? That works too. Color the Easy page one day and the Detailed page another.

This is “Snowy Cabin” from Same Page: Christmas. Drag across the picture to go from the Easy page to the Detailed page.

Three steps

  1. Open the book to any scene.

The bold Easy page is on the left. The Detailed page is on the right. It’s the same picture, drawn twice.

  2. Each of you takes a page.

Color with crayons, pencils or markers. The back of every page is blank.

  3. Find Tuck, then talk about what you made.

Then turn the page and start the next scene.

Where Tuck fits in

Tuck, a scruffy little terrier, is in every scene. On the Easy page he’s in plain sight. On the Detailed page he’s hiding, so look closely.

See it in the picture above. On the Easy page, Tuck sits on the porch step. On the Detailed page, he’s peeking out of the window.

Where’s Tuck? is a little different. It’s for ages 4 to 8, with one picture on each page. Tuck is hiding in every one, along with three more things to find.
